The Texas Jail Association held its 40th Annual Conference on May 4–8, 2026, in San Marcos, Texas. The event reflected four decades of commitment to advancing detention operations across the state.
The conference successfully brought together sheriffs, jail administrators, corrections officers, support staff, trainers, vendors, and criminal justice professionals for a week focused on training and networking. Through a combination of general sessions, breakout presentations, networking opportunities, and vendor exhibits, attendees were able to exchange ideas and strengthen professional relationships that directly benefit jail operations.
Training addressed practical and timely issues facing detention professionals, including legislative updates, jail standards compliance, incarcerated veterans, staff wellbeing, recruiting and retention, liabilities, peer support, and more.
Equally important was the opportunity for networking and collaboration. The exhibit hall and sponsored events created valuable opportunities for agencies to connect with vendors, explore emerging technologies, and discuss solutions to challenges affecting modern detention facilities. The strong vendor participation highlights the importance of partnerships between public safety professionals and industry leaders in supporting safe and effective jail operations.
The conference not only honored the association’s history but also reinforced its continued role in preparing correctional professionals to meet the evolving demands of detention management.
NIC staff were in attendance and spoke at five training sessions concerning NIC’s available offerings and technical assistance.
