Stephanie Hove joined the National Institute of Corrections as a National Programs Advisor in the Jails Division in October 2024, after concluding a 32-year career with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections (WIDOC). While with WIDOC, she gained extensive experience in correctional systems administration, policy development and resource management. She held a variety of leadership roles, including the agency’s Deputy Secretary, Administrator of the Division of Community Corrections, Deputy Administrator of the Division of Adult Institutions, Regional Chief in the Division of Juvenile Corrections and Director of the Office of Victim Services and Programs. During her career at the state level, Ms. Hove engaged in several initiatives designed to improve outcomes for justice system-involved individuals and to ensure public safety. These initiatives included: evidence-based decision making and trauma-informed approaches, collaborative community reentry programs, enhanced release planning, restrictive housing reforms, and implementation of an objective classification system. She holds a strong interest in external stakeholder engagement, employee wellness, professional/executive leader development, and strategic planning.

At NIC, Ms. Hove continues to use her expertise to further NIC’s mission and influence correctional policies, practices, and operations on a national level. She holds a strong interest in intergovernmental relations, employee wellness, professional/executive leader development, and strategic planning. Her current portfolio includes Transition from Jails to Community, Managing Restrictive Housing Populations training, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Director and Chair Curriculum, and Essential Elements of a Pretrial System and Agency Toolkit.
