As we recognize National Pretrial, Probation, and Parole Supervision Week, I extend my sincere appreciation and gratitude to the dedicated professionals who serve communities across our nation every day. Parole Services holds a special place in my heart and career as I began my journey in 1994 as a West Virginia Parole Officer.
Pretrial, probation, and parole officers play a vital role in the criminal justice system. Through their commitment, professionalism, and service, they help promote public safety, support positive behavior change, and strengthen opportunities for successful community reintegration. Their work requires balancing accountability with rehabilitation while addressing complex challenges faced by justice-involved individuals and the communities they serve.
This week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the critical contributions of community supervision professionals at the local, state, tribal, territorial, and federal levels. Whether conducting investigations, supervising individuals in the community, connecting clients to services, supporting victims, or collaborating with justice system partners, these professionals demonstrate unwavering dedication to their mission.
