From March 10–11, 2026, the Major County Sheriffs of America, National Sheriffs’ Association, and Small and Rural Law Enforcement Executives Association joined forces with the National Institute of Corrections to focus on one critical priority: wellness for our nation’s sheriffs. Active and retired sheriffs from across the country, along with state sheriffs’ association leaders, engaged in candid discussions about the unique challenges that sheriffs face at each stage of their careers and the support they need to stay healthy and effective in their roles. Together, these partners are identifying practical resources and strategies to strengthen wellness, resilience, and peer support for sheriffs serving communities of all sizes.
