Correctional Anti-Sex Trafficking Initiative: Developing National Guidelines
Correctional agencies are poised to identify those in custody who need specialized, victim-centered services to regain control of their lives. NIC intends to create simple, straight-forward, and easy-to-adopt guidelines for correctional agencies that are developing and implementing protocols to address the specific needs of these victims. Included in the development of the guidelines will be consideration for policy development, training and awareness, screening protocols and assessments, operational support, and pre-release resources and services that can be delivered during reentry.
NIC will convene a "steering" meeting to begin discussion of the development of the effective guidelines, inviting 8-10 participants who serve as anti-trafficking coordinators in their respective agencies. As part of their participation, the coordinators will be asked to contribute beyond the initial meeting. Teams will be created to continue to review various protocols and multiple components of services and areas of best practices for victim centered guidelines and resources for this specific target population. Members may also be asked to "pilot" some of the developed materials as the community of practice evolves.
Eligibility: Must be serving as the agency coordinator for anti-sex trafficking/ Applicants will also need to send an email to e1bush@bop.gov, indicating their willingness to participate in the project, beyond the initial meeting.
