Reassessing and Maintaining a Comprehensive Classification System

This offering is a two-day training designed as an experiential, hands-on opportunity to use an NIC, evidenced-based methodology for analyzing and updating institutional classification tools. Participants will be led through activities to review risk and needs factors and scoring assessment processes that have evolved in response to changes in the agency's internal and external sociopolitical environment. The training objectives address the urgent demands that corrections agencies face due to significant changes in the size and nature of their population to address programming services, system integrity and confidence, and institutional and public safety while facilitating effective reentry planning.

The target audience for participants includes directors/administrators of classification, whose function is to manage the agency assessment tools via staff training, utilization, and integrity.
