Description of the Program

Fostering Civility in the Correctional Workplace is a four-hour Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT) designed to strengthen professionalism, respect, and accountability across correctional settings.

Using adult learning best practices, participants engage in interactive, scenario-based activities, case studies, and guided discussions. This hands-on approach equips staff with the tools to recognize, prevent, and address incivility while promoting a culture of respect and teamwork.

Learners examine the different levels of incivility, its impact on both staff and incarcerated individuals, and how to respond effectively. The training also emphasizes clear communication, conflict resolution, and practical strategies to intervene confidently when uncivil behavior occurs. Designed for correctional professionals across custody, programming, healthcare, probation, and administration, this training equips all staff to help create a safer, more professional, and effective workplace.
