The Information Center

The National Institute of Corrections (NIC) Information Center serves as a comprehensive online and physical library for corrections professionals. It provides a vast collection of resources including publications, research studies, guides, videos, and curricula covering all aspects of correctional practice—from jails and prisons to community supervision. The Information Center also offers a help desk for research assistance, a digital library with free e-books and other digital media, and specialized collections on topics like the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA). Its purpose is to provide timely, accurate, and evidence-based information to help federal, state, local, and tribal corrections agencies improve their policies and operations.
