The Mission Support Division provides the strategic leadership, operational support, and organizational infrastructure necessary to advance NIC’s mission of improving the nation’s correctional practices through innovation, research, training, and technical assistance. The Division is responsible for research, planning, and policy development; management of internal operations and contract administration; technology and information management; oversight of the NIC Information Center; and the development and maintenance of professional relationships with national and state agencies, organizations, correctional stakeholders, and the public. Through these functions, MSD ensures the effective stewardship of resources, promotes organizational efficiency and accountability, supports informed decision-making, and strengthens collaboration and knowledge sharing across the corrections field. The Division serves as a critical foundation for NIC’s programs and initiatives, enabling the Institute to respond to emerging correctional challenges, support evidence-informed practices, and fulfill its commitment to advancing safe, fair, and effective correctional systems.
