Through the NIC VET-NET network, the National Institute of Corrections delivers a wide range of open-access tools and training materials to help communities and justice systems better serve military veterans. Developed in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and SAMHSA, NIC provides public access to downloadable Veterans Justice Outreach Toolkits, instructional webinars, and transcribable video series organized around the Veteran Sequential Intercept Model (V-SIM). These public resources span every stage of criminal justice contact—from early law enforcement deflection and court diversion to jail/prison reentry and community supervision—offering actionable guidance for correctional professionals, service providers, and veterans seeking support services.
