On April 13, 2026, NIC debuted Leadership Evolution: From Manager to Leader, a training for Massachusetts Probation Services (MPS). Months of planning went into preparing the pilot delivery in Clinton, MA, with 23 participants. This program promotes key leadership behaviors in mid- and senior-level leaders by capitalizing on the results of multiple assessments to inform self-awareness, self-efficacy, and deepen awareness of interpersonal relationships in the workplace. The program promotes individual growth through application of concepts to daily individualized leadership interactions.
Leadership Evolution consists of three phases. Phase one is 5 days in person, phase two is four 3-hour virtual sessions, and phase three wraps up the program with 5 more days in person. Participants engage in pre-course and intersession work to practice new ideas and test leadership behaviors prior to the next session. Individual coaching is provided for each participant during the first intersession, and the participants follow up by providing coaching to their team during intersession two.
Participant evaluations regarding the pilot of the first phase of the training included comments such as:
“Hands down, the best training I have been to in my 19 years with MPS. I look forward to the next phases.”
“An amazing experience and excited to move forward.”
“I debated about doing this program at all, being an introverted avoider. I was nervous and afraid I wouldn’t be able to do it. The way this program was laid out helped me to succeed and feel confident about my ability to be a leader. The activities and the material, the way it was delivered really allowed me to take it in and realize I can do this.”
Our dedicated National Programs Advisors are celebrating the initial success of the debut and look forward to implementation of phases 2 and 3 and beyond.
