NIC held the Urban Chiefs Network (UCN) meeting on June 16-18, 2026, in Pittsburgh, PA. The meeting took place at the Moorhead Federal Building and the Allegheny County Adult Probation Offices. NIC Director Patrick Mirandy welcomed the network members and shared his vision for NIC along with agency updates.

Allegheny County Adult Probation hosted the meeting and agency staff presented information on agency initiatives and services. Specifically, presentations included:

  • An overview of Pennsylvania Act 44 legislation that requires conditions of probation supervision to be assessed and ordered based on individualized circumstances
  • An update on the Implementing Organizational Resources to Support Behavior Change initiative, including an overview of the major components
  • An overview of Allegheny Pretrial Services key functions

NIC NPA Katie Green facilitated member suggested topic discussions that led to identifying emerging areas and resources to advance the field of probation. The UCN typically meets 3-4 times a year, virtually and in person. The next meeting will take place in Washington, DC, at the Combined Network Meeting on September 9-10, 2026.
