Conducting Security Audits is a 36-hour training program focused on the essential role of security audits in identifying and mitigating risks within correctional facilities. This comprehensive training helps agencies assess vulnerabilities related to policies, procedures, and physical infrastructure. Proactively identifying and addressing risks ensures that facilities operate in a secure and compliant manner, reducing incidents of violence, escapes, and other threats. By conducting audits at various state facilities, participants gain hands-on experience that enhances their auditing capabilities. auditing protocols, and real-world auditing practice. Instruction includes guided, in-depth security analysis facilitated by an NIC-sponsored faculty member, who also acts as the team leader of a six-person team. Throughout the program, participants work individually and with fellow staff on reviewing assigned areas of facility operations.
This training program includes classroom instruction in auditing protocols and a minimum of three days of real-world auditing practice correctional facilities. There is guided, in-depth security analysis, staff engagement, policy assessment and hands on auditing of specific areas of facility operations
Security is everyone's business. Supervisors and Compliance staff, from various facility Divisions, engaged in direct facility operations and supervision are the target audience. In consultation with NIC, it is imperative that the participants are selected with a critical review of areas of responsibility.
