A main goal of this resource is to support and inform institutional and community corrections leaders and personnel as they consider MAT for individuals with SUDs at various stages of engagement with the criminal justice system: pre and post trial and upon reentry, with or without supervision. While evidence-based findings on MAT programs specifically for this population continue to grow, the contents of this resource are based on the currently available research on MAT and the use of MAT in correctional settings, programming for SUD across the criminal justice system, and, most important, the experiences of expert justice leaders and practitioners who have pioneered the application of MAT in these agencies and institutions.
