This 26-hour training will equip new and seated parole board members and chairs with the knowledge and skills to: make sound and informed decisions; work collaboratively with external criminal justice and community partners and define and measure success. The training will enhance the team relationship between parole board chairs and their members. NIC is the only agency that provides this comprehensive training to paroling authorities. The training includes pre-work and homework assignments every day of the face-to-face session. This training is currently being revised into a “team approach” and will include a mentoring component in collaboration with APAI. This new training will be piloted in FY26. This training may have virtual component.
