Description of the Program

The Training Administrators Network (TAN) provides a platform for Training Directors and Administrators from local, state and federal, adult and juvenile corrections agencies, including community services (probation and parole), juvenile services, jails and prisons to develop and share information. Functioning as both a network and a community of practice, participants connect and share experiences across disciplines and geographic regions. The network focuses on bringing together practitioners to improve training methods and systems.

The annual Symposium serves to bring participants together at the National Corrections Academy in Aurora, Co to enhance relationships, collaboration, and the sense of community. Participants engage in a nationwide needs assessment, share best practices to help others overcome common obstacles, and plan Network activities for the coming year.

The Symposium will be hosted by National Programs Advisors from the NIC Academy Division, with much facilitation done by Regional Field Coordinators as part of their work in the Regional Training Initiative.

Applications are open to Training Administrators. A Training Administrator for a correctional agency is the professional responsible for the comprehensive management, administration, and evaluation of all staff training programs to ensure compliance with legal requirements and agency objectives. This role typically involves a mix of administrative, educational, and supervisory duties within a highly regulated environment. Approved applicants will receive instructions on coordinating NIC paid invitational travel (air and hotel) expenses.
